The Importance of History

There are three reasons people should know their history. It tells us how things/beliefs have evolved. It also shows how we came to be where we’re at now. It also emphasizes the importance of things that have happened and why they happened.

 It tells us how things and beliefs have evolved by showing us what people believed back in the past. It helps us understand why they felt the way they did. History explains to us why people did what they did. For example how people thought that things needed to be a specific way, but now they think differently. There was a time in history when people used to think that blacks were less than whites. Now that society has evolved, everyone is valued the same.  Another example is how people thought that the world was square, but later realized that it was round.

 History tells us how we got to be where we are now. It tells us how people migrated from different places all around the world. It also tells us what changes people have made to society. For example, history tells us how Africans were brought here as slaves, and then things changed to where now they treated “equally” and laws have been made to protect them. It also explains how many people fought in wars for our freedom. Without history, we wouldn’t appreciate what we have now.

 It emphasizes important dates back in history. It tells how and why things happened. It also tells us when things happened. For example, when did Martin Luther King Jr die, what was he doing when he died, and what lead up to his death. Another example is it gives dates of wars and how long they lasted.  These things are important because they can help us find solutions to current problems. Some specific examples of how history can be used to help solve current problems can be found in the work of FBI, CSI, as well as local and state investigations.

 For all these reasons and more, people should be aware of history. People need to know why things are the way they are. History has impacted us and will keep on affecting us in the future, which is why it’s important. People can use history to help prevent future mistakes. History teaches everyone a lot of things. History will always be with everyone and be a part of everyone’s lives.
