Interview a Homeless Person
My person was Cody Brown, age 53. He has been homeless since the age of 17. He is located in Toronto, Canada. He used to sleep under bridges and now under stairwells. He was an orphan, and was kicked out of his adoptive home at age 17. Since then he has been alone. He never got any support from anyone. He claims that the reason for him being homeless is not having any structure in family and government. He claims not having access to housing or schooling has caused him to become homeless. I believe that if the government did offer more opportunities for everyone, not many people would be homeless. I believe that the only way they can rejoin society and join the workforce is if the government gets together to help those that seek help. I really do have sympathy for this guy because I know that an emotional toll also has an impact on his way of living. I believe that he's like that because of the way he has been treated since birth. He has basically been on his own almost his entire life. I honestly don't believe I could help him because I couldn't change their government even if I wanted to.

Poetry Assignment 1
No Way Out From Sexual Abuse
By: Louise
And if the case is dropped
he will come back home again
and I'll be back to where I began
In a world of sadness and pain
I hope someone hears my cry
and says they understand
I just don't know what to do anymore
I'm scared and on my own
So you see I'm stuck forever
I just want to scream and shout
But there's something you have to know
That for me, there's no way out

Family Friend Poems
I chose this poem because I can relate to it very well. I also chose it because many children go through the same thing as well. I felt the exact same way and I went through the exact same thing. Surprisingly the author is also my age. This poem is about her stepfather molesting her and her mother didn't believe her. Her mother just like mine also called her a liar. He was never imprisoned, just like my stepfather. She also doesn't see a good future for herself and self-harms sometimes just like me sometimes. The author's purpose was to get her pain out and encourage victims of sexual abuse to speak up whenever someone hurts them. She also wants people to understand her and any victim of sexual abuse. The author is definitely against sexual abuse and hates it.

The Importance of History
There are three reasons people
should know their history. It tells us how things/beliefs have evolved. It also
shows how we came to be where we’re at now. It also emphasizes the importance
of things that have happened and why they happened.
It tells us how things and beliefs have
evolved by showing us what people believed back in the past. It helps us
understand why they felt the way they did. History explains to us why people
did what they did. For example how people thought that things needed to be a
specific way, but now they think differently. There was a time in history when people
used to think that blacks were less than whites. Now that society has evolved, everyone
is valued the same. Another example is
how people thought that the world was square, but later realized that it was
round.
History tells us how we got to be where we are
now. It tells us how people migrated from different places all around the
world. It also tells us what changes people have made to society. For example,
history tells us how Africans were brought here as slaves, and then things
changed to where now they treated “equally” and laws have been made to protect
them. It also explains how many people fought in wars for our freedom. Without
history, we wouldn’t appreciate what we have now.
It emphasizes important dates back in history.
It tells how and why things happened. It also tells us when things happened.
For example, when did Martin Luther King Jr die, what was he doing when he
died, and what lead up to his death. Another example is it gives dates of wars
and how long they lasted. These things
are important because they can help us find solutions to current problems. Some
specific examples of how history can be used to help solve current problems can
be found in the work of FBI, CSI, as well as local and state investigations.
For all these reasons and more, people should
be aware of history. People need to know why things are the way they are.
History has impacted us and will keep on affecting us in the future, which is
why it’s important. People can use history to help prevent future mistakes. History
teaches everyone a lot of things. History will always be with everyone and be a
part of everyone’s lives.

Learning Style Paragraph
According to the survey, I am a visual learner. I do agree with the results because I am a visual learner. I remember when I was in Discrete Math, I would understand the lesson better if I saw Ms. Wood work on the problem versus her verbally telling us what to do. I think that the survey was easy until I had to decide which of two I was more like. I believe that the survey was important so that Ms. Ellison can know how to help us. If she knows how we learn the best, then she can teach in a way where everyone can understand what she's teaching.
